Sensei Callum Dick

Yon Dan

I Started training under Frank Sargent in Glenrothes Jubilee Centre in 1982 after sustaining some bad rugby injury's and realised I needed a change of sport so was looking for something else which involved hard training but was a bit safer. I happened to be in the local community hall for some reason while a Goju Ryu Karate class was in progress and became fascinated by the moves of the kata. After the class I approached Sensei Frank and he had his son Tommy Sargent who was 11 at the time, demonstrate the kata seyunchin. I just could not believe such a young boy could perform such a complicated array of moves and decided if he could do it then so could I and started training.

I took over the KAIZEN KAN club when Frank Sensei semi retired as the club coach in 1995 and moved it back from the Fife institute of Recreation to the Stenton Jubilee Center were it had originally been. Frank Sensei is still active as my coach and oversees grading standards and procedures.

My goal with the club is to maintain the high standards set for the students of the IOGKF and increase the numbers training within Scotland.
